You're very welcome! Happy to help (even though your manual and the above user beat me to it)! UFRAW, GIMP and Aftershot Pro make a very powerful combination for a Linux aware photographer, and as I suspect that most Pentaxians harbour an anarchistic tendency, Linux and Pentax are just made for each other. I am somewhat spoilt in that I have a Win10 computer running Lightroom too but I may cease my Adobe subscription in the autumn/fall. I must confess I am now a bit of a Linux evangelist after having to implement it on servers some fifteen years ago. I was surprised to discover Corel produced Aftershot Pro for Linux too, it actually works really well (in v2.4) under Ubuntu 14.04 and it is much cheaper than Adobe Lightroom (although not free like Darktable). Thanks for everyone's help, I did something almost unheard of and actually dug out my manual this evening and discovered "Save User Model", so it is bye bye PEF for me. I mostly use Lightroom, but am always on the lookout to improve Linux's usability for photography, as a move away from the duopoloy is quite nice to dream about. I had no idea that Corel had any Linux software - that's great to hear! I've played with Darktable a bit, and heard many good things about RawTherapee. When you change your file format to DNG Raw, make sure you "Save User Mode!" It's easy to forget, but if you just change it and don't save, then the camera thinks it's just a temporary adjustment you want. Has anybody else tried Aftershot Pro v.3 to open PEF files (under Win/Mac/Linux), did it work for you? I have raised the matter with Corel technical support but they are next to useless. That brings me back to Corel's Aftershot Pro v.3, the previous version (v2.4) is a joy to use and is fully compatible with my K3's products, however v.3 is a mess and PEF support is broken. I have also discovered that my K3 PEF files don't appear to be supported by UFRAW or any other Linux RAW applications.Īre there any other Pentaxians out there that use the rare combination of a K3 and 64bit Linux (I'm using Ubuntu 14.04LTS)? DNG files don't appear to be a problem, but K3 PEF files seem to be poorly supported (apart from ASPv.2.4), can anybody suggest another Linux 64bit GNU application that I can try. Until now ASP2.4 has handled K3 PEF really well but when I upgraded to ASPv.3 PEF support has bombed out, luckily I can still use my old ASP2.4 so all is not lost. (For those who don't know, Aftershot Pro (ASP) is a direct competitor of Adobe Lightroom, but the best bit is that as well as the Win/Mac duopoly ASP is available for Linux based computers). Recently I've been taking a lot of PEF format images rather than my usual DNG, all has been well until last week when I upgraded my copy of Corel Aftershot Pro from v.2.4 to v.3.
